70 per cent of the 27th’s men were killed or wounded at Waterloo – the Duke of Wellington called it ‘the regiment that saved the centre of my line,’
Discharge 27th Foot due to varicose veins right leg and slight wound to the left leg
Edward Tierney arrived in New South Wales on a Convict transport possibly in 1827
2nd Discharge was when the New South Wales Veterans Corp was disbanded 1838
Edward Tierney was treated by the doctor on the Ramillies for an ulcer during the voyage to Western Australia
When Edward Tierney left Western Australia he had to refund from stoppages to his pension the cost of the passage of his wife on the Ramillies £10/4/11 less the £4/15/1 he had already repaid.
