| Further Information | 1841 British Army World Wide Index shows James with the 16th at Meerut India 1851 British Army World Wide Index shows James with the 16th at Hounslow London England Discharge: Private James Roberts of the 16th Lancers at present in hospital received a very bad fracture of the leg by the kick of a horse while on duty on 24 October 1856; he complains of occasional pains in the limb, his constitution is weakly. At the time of his accident this man was in the act of grooming his horse. 17th January 1865 Private James Roberts a single man of the 16th Lancers was one of the pensioners appointed to the Camden Harbour expedition at a salary of 2/- per day his conduct was recorded as being ‘good’. The detachment departed Fremantle 17th January 1865 aboard the Tien Tsin. He returned to Perth when the settlement was abandoned. See EPG Gazette April 2005 Vol 6 No 2 re letter from Richard Daley to Sergt Conley dated 15th March 1865 conditions at Camden Harbour. On the 10th January 1865 Belinda (age 12) and Sarah (age 7) left Western Australia on the Daylight bound for London. Sarah then appears on the 1871 Census living with her uncle Thomas Brigham at Grosvenor Rise, Walthamstow. She is age 14, working as a laundress and was born in Bawdeswell, Norfolk.
