Further Information | British Army Worldwide Index 1841 John Kearney 508 Private 63rd foot location Moulmein Discharge due to being worn out. Surgeon’s sick list Hashemy August 2nd 1850 William Kearney age 7 Guard’s boy treated for Rubella 23rd December 1852 Captain Bruce wrote to the Governor recommending Pensioner John Kearny be appointed to the Perth Police Force. Apparently he had recommended him some months previously but as relationships with Bishop Brady had been strained and Kearny was a Catholic he was not employed, however Bishop Brady had left the colony and Bruce reapplied on Kearny’s behalf. December 23rd 1852 The Colonial Secretary by direction of His Excellency the Governor to request the favour of being informed whether John Kearney a Pensioner lately employed in the Convict Establishment conducted himself to your satisfaction as it is contemplated again to engage his services for the Police Service.
