Further Information | British Army Worldwide Index 1841 Patrick Brannan 986 Private detachment location Aden Discharge due to chronic rheumatism, dyspepsia and general debility Surgeon’s Log for “Hashemy” states wife scalded foot and put on sick list 27th August 1850 and on 8th October she gave birth to a child Patrick Brennen received medical treatment aboard the Hashemy for diarrhoea and rheumatism as did daughter Margaret age 3 for rubella When the Hashemy was chartered as a convict transport in 1850 its destination was Van Diemen’s Land but due to the strong anti-transportation movement in the Eastern states it was decided to send it to Western Australia where transportation was still acceptable. As a result the WO 23s still have the pensioners located in VDL in 1851 instead of Western Australia. |
