He is living in the No 2 Barracks Fremantle with 4 of his children his wife having died in 1879. 1881 The Staff Officer recommended Sergeant Beswick for employment as a railway gate keeper, porter or watchman 21st November 1881 Sergeant Beswick was in charge of No 2 Barracks Fremantle when his son James and 3 other lads played a prank on the schoolmaster James Teapler that resulted in a slanging match between Mr and Mrs Teapler and Sergeant Beswick. After the inquiry they were all advised if there were any further antics of this nature they would all be evicted from the Barracks. Peace seemed to have reigned as they were still living in the barracks in 1882 |
