Josephine received the portion with a 4 roomed stone cottage and James and Patrick the 2 roomed cottage (they were tenants –in-common of their parcel of land). The Total value of the estate was £870. Julia, Patrick and James received the contents of the main house. |
Further Information | ‘Present at the campaigns 1845 and 1846 at the battle of Sobraon 10th February 1846. Also served in the campaign of 1848 repulses of the enemy’s night attack Sutlej. That year Mooltan 17 August 1848, affair of the 9th September before Mooltan. Wounded severely at Sobraon a severe gunshot wound left leg 10th February 1846. 12 September 1848 Wounded severely by a sword cut left hand before Mooltan.’ British Army Worldwide Index 1841 Patrick Hayes 1174 Private 10th Foot location Manchester and Newcastle Discharge unfit for service due to the above sabre cut rendering the left wrist useless 1880 Patrick Hayes was one of the pensioners on the reserve list for the Enrolled Guard in 1880 and he was taken onto the Enrolled Guard 13th April 1881. He occupied rooms 9 and 10 with his family of 3 boys and 2 girls. On 20th November 1880 Andrew Hayes age 6 was one of a group of 4 boys responsible for breaking panes of glass in the Mt Eliza Barracks. |
