British Army, Worldwide Index: 1861 Samuel Brown Private 3456 53rd regiment location Devonport Discharge due to wound back of neck (bullet unextracted) received at Cawnpore 30th November 1857 and also sabre wound to his back received at Lucknow 1857. Suffers from deafness in both ears following a bout of fever in India In the 1861 Census Samuel Brown age 27, a private in the army, a single man born London Middlesex was a patient at the Military Hospital at Stoke Damerel Devon. This may be pensioner Samuel Brown In the 1871 Census Samuel Brown is living at High Street, St. John Huntingdon, he is age 35 and working as a cowkeeper, he was born Walworth Surrey. His with Sarah is age 36 and was born Downham Cambridgeshire. Also living with them is his mother- in- law Amy Green age 72, formerly a miller’s wife born Over Cambridgeshire. In the 1881 Census Samuel and Sarah Brown are still living at High Street, St. John Huntingdon and Samuel is still a cowkeeper but Amy Green is no longer with them. Not found 1891 Census. |
