Further Information	During the voyage of the Clara Richard Daly had his grog stopped for 2 days for going into the barracks with his accoutrements on – against orders. 1864 The Religious Instructor on the Clara wrote a Weekly Journal. Number 5 12th March has a witty poem that Jennie McGuire wrote about her life with Richard Daly whereby she records her maiden name and village where she lived prior to her marriage to ‘Dick’. It gives a definite name for Richard’s wife and a place of her birth in Limerick. See attached image of the poem. Richard Daly and his wife were amongst the Pensioners chosen for the expedition to Camden Harbour which turned out to be a major disaster. (There are many books and articles written about Camden Harbour including Scholl’s report.) Richard Daly wrote to Sergeant Conley on 15th March 1865 regarding conditions at Camden Harbour see Camden Harbour – EPG Gazette April 2005 Volume 6 No 2 – Jeanette Lee 1866 Richard nominated his sister in law Mary (Fl)inn age 38 and her son John age 19 as nominated immigrants, their contact address was Mechanics Institute Limerick. Richard Daly had a number of minor charges brought against him for assault, drunkenness and bad language during 1869-1870s 1866 Purchased Fremantle Town Lot 395 for £6/0/0 High Street 1871 wife purchased Fremantle Town Lot 746 for £6/0/023rd March 1885 pensioner Richard Daley (sic) was gaoled for 6 months for an assault on a girl Emily Timewell. There is a series of Letters to the Editor written by a Richard Daley between 1888 and 1891 regarding a reservoir on Mt. Eliza and Albany being the principal port for Western Australia and the agriculture of the Albany district which produced a lively correspondence with several others. Whether these letters were written by Pensioner Richard Daly or another person is unknown.
