In the pay allotments for the HMS Caledonia John Calson’s are paid to Caroline Moore as trustee for his daughter Emma aged 4 ½ years, Caroline was residing with Mrs Fox 17 High Street Stonehouse, Mary Ann Fox was a witness to the marriage between John and Caroline.
In the 1841 Census John Calson age +-30 is living at Rowe Court East Stonehouse Devonport with Caroline Calson age +- 15, no relationship given, neither were born in the County of Devon. His profession is given as ‘navy.’

In the 1851 Census John is living with his parents at Clarkes Lane Rochdale Lancashire.
He is a married man and a Greenwich pensioner. His father William’s occupation is given as weaver flannel while his brother William’s is coachman
There is no evidence his wife and child came to Western Australia. There is a note on his WO22/259 which looks like half his pension (£7/12/0) was paid to another unnamed person, possibly his daughter Emma.
Still being paid pension in South Australia in 1875
A John Calson (father William) aged 55 married Mary Ann Taylor (father John Taylor) aged 28 at Adelaide South Australia 3 December 1869 -whether this is pensioner John Calson is unclear
