Further Information | Discharge: Unfit for further service due to gunshot wound causing damage to the right elbow, partial loss of power of forearm and hand. Humerus fractured above elbow, second Battle of Inkerman 5th November 1854 There were a number of William Walkers admitted to the (Royal) Adelaide Hospital but the two that were most likely the pensioner were: 29th December 1869, age 33, a married man and his religion was protestant; he was residing at Thebarton and working as a labourer. He was born at Cumberland, England and had been in the Colony 5 years no ship of arrival. A second admittance was on 31st July 1872 age 38, married living at Thebarton, a shoemaker, had been in the Colony 7 years and had arrived on the Harriett Hope Ann Walker was admitted to the (Royal) Adelaide Hospital On 7th December 1874 age 42, at the time she was married woman, religion Church of England and was living at Thebarton. She had been born in Paisley Scotland and had been in the Colony 15 years and 9 months and had arrived on the Sultana. On the Admission form for Ann dated 28th February 1878 she is still aged 42 now living at Hindmarsh and she said she arrived by the Europa. |
