Further Information | British Army Worldwide Index 1841 Alexander Marshall 1134 Private 92nd Foot location St Vincent, St. Lucia and Dominica 1851 Alexander Marshall 1134 Private 92nd Foot location Corfu, Ionian Islands Discharge due to chronic rheumatism and catarrah making unfit to proceed to India with regiment in 1858 from Gibraltar – jopined depot in Stirling Scotland. On 23rd January 1863 Alexander Marshall was admitted to the (Royal) Adelaide Hospital age 47, a single man, religion Protestant, a hut keeper at Booberowie, he was born Glasgow Scotland and had been 2 years in the Colony having arrived on the Sultana. He was again admitted on 14th July 1876 and said he was 63 years of age, Church of England, a shepherd at Gum Creek, married born Glasgow, had been in the Colony for 18 years and had arrived on the Sultana. By the time of his third admittance on 10th April 1898 he said he was a widower age 83 a Bible Christian living at Stirling East a labourer and had been born in Scotland and had arrived in the Colony 40 years prior on the Sultana. In 1901 Mr William Fallow late of the Gordon Highlanders (92nd regiment) wrote a full account of Alexander Marshall’s life in the Advertiser and Chronicle and although some details do not correspond with his WO97 those after his arrival as a Convict guard give a detailed account of his life in Australia |
