Further Information | 1855 Discharge due to severe wound minor action at Sebastopol 29 August . Incontinence of urine due to severe wound on the groin and upper part of left thigh. The name Brannan is recorded in most of his Army papers but seems to have been more commonly Brennan in Australia. 1864 Edward Brennan (sic) nominated his siblings James age 18 and Margaret age 21 as Government Immigrants, Edward gave Father Newton of St Mary’s church Manchester as a reference. In December 1885 Edward Brennan gave notice of his intent to apply for the letters of administration for the estate of his late son William John Brennan, however, William had made a will on 25th October 1882 whereby he left all the money in his Government Savings Account and his books and personal effects to his youngest brother Arthur Brennan. Arthur Lewis Brennan also made a will on 4th June 1915 whereby he left all his estate and personal effects to his sister Margaret (spinster) who resided at the same address. The value of the estate was £382. From the obituary for his son William in 1885 it appears Edward worked for the New South Wales Railways as an engine driver also mentioned in William’s will, and his sons William and Arthur Lewis followed his example: Arthur as a clerk. Son Edward was the Press Secretary for the Parramatta Central branch of the ALP. |
