Further Information | Garrison Court Martial 26 May 1835 for drunkenness and sentenced to 2 months solitary confinement. On 30th July 1835 a District Court Martial found him guilty of desertion and sentenced him to 3 months imprisonment with hard labour and to be branded with a “D” In 1845 the 73rd Regiment sailed for Argentina en-route for the Cape Colony where they arrived in December 1846. They were deployed against the Xhora people near Butterworth along the Buffalo River. When the 8th Frontier War broke out 530 men of the 73rd were involved.
