Further Information | Discharge due to rupture Peter Towers was a last minute addition to the Guard replacing Henry Hearn After the arrival of the Scindian at Fremantle Captain Henderson wrote a report listing the rank name, trade or calling, rate of pension, date of enlistment for 5 months service, marital status, and number of children for each pensioner. Sometimes the trade of calling differed from that recorded at the time of attestation: Private Peter Towers, shoemaker, £6, 31st January, married Pioneer Death Index spells surname as TORVEIS although original registrations on microfiche spell surname as TOWERS 21st December 1869 Mrs Towers wrote to the Governor requesting outdoor relief as life in the Home did not suit her. It was felt it was to her advantage she remain in the Home |
