Will or Probate | Cons 3403 1891/1008 3rd June 1886 Samuel Sutton made his will “whereby I bequeath the whole of my personal property of whatever nature and kind to my daughters Sarah Jones the wife of Jonathon Jones of Beverley farmer and to Fanny Jones the wife of Walter Jones of Guildford labourer in equal shares. I devise my lands at Freshwater Bay known of Swan location P253 and P256 unto and to the use of my son Benjamin Sutton of the Vasse district police constable. I devise my land at Butler’s Swamp known as Swan location 232 unto and to the use of my said two daughters the said Sarah Jones and Fanny Jones.” He appointed Walter Jones as executor. |
Further Information | 1841 Census Samuel Sutton is at the Royal Marine Barracks St Mary Pembroke Pembrokeshire Wales Discharge due to hernia right hand side After the arrival of the Scindian at Fremantle Captain Henderson wrote a report listing the rank name, trade or calling, rate of pension, date of enlistment for 5 months service, marital status, and number of children for each pensioner. Sometimes the trade of calling differed from that recorded at the time of attestation: Private Samuel Sutton, general labourer, £13/12/0, 17th January, married 2 children 25th April 1871 Samuel Sutton applied to purchase Freshwater Bay allotments P253, P154 and P255 of 1½ acres at forty shilling per acre. (Adjoining blocks to P256 his original grant) Son Charles was engaged as a servant to Resident Magistrate Scholl during the Camden Harbour expedition of 1864 unfortunately he was one of the passengers on the ill fate Emma that went down with all passengers and crew during a storm off Dirk Hartog Island in 1867.
