Further Information	British Army Worldwide Index 1841 Robert Lindsay 407 Private 2nd Foot location Deesa Discharge due to general debility and dyspnoea After the arrival of the Scindian at Fremantle Captain Henderson wrote a report listing the rank name, trade or calling, rate of pension, date of enlistment for 5 months service, marital status, and number of children for each pensioner. Sometimes the trade of calling differed from that recorded at the time of attestation: Private Robert Lindsay, tailor, 1/-, 24th January, married, 1 child February 1864 Robert Lindsay while working for the Colonial Secretary at Crawley was bitten by a black snake; he applied a tourniquet and cut out the flesh around the wound so saving his life. 25^th October 1853 Captain Bruce recommends the dismissal of James Stevens from the Enrolled Force for drunkenness which punishment entailed the stoppage from his pension the cost of passage money for both him and his wife. 17^th December 1875 Robert Lindsay applied to enter the Poor House as he was too infirm to earn his own living- to contribute 6d per day towards his board. 1881 Mrs Lindsay requested half of Robert’s pension be paid to her – she said he was a tailor 1881 Constable English was called to the home of Mrs Johns as her father Robert Lindsay was drunk and creating a disturbance 3rd May 1883 Pensioner Robert Lindsay of the 2nd Queens regiment applied to Captain Smith for quarters in the barracks for him and his wife as he said he is 77 years of age and no longer able to get around-approved.
