On 22nd July 1878 William Whitehouse was admitted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital where he died on 5th August 1878. At the time he was a married man,  65 years of age, a Roman Catholic, living at Portland Estate, born Somerset. He arrived in the Colony in the ship Adelaide and had been 23 years in the Colony.
