Discharge due to the loss by amputation of the fore and middle fingers. He ws severely wounded by a shell fragment in the trenches 13th July 1855.
John Tracey wrote to the Governor after being hospitalised on 11th May 1893 requesting that he be paid a reasonable amount to live on once he was discharged. He was entitled to superannuation of £21/13/4 per annum. After much debate he was awarded a retirement allowance of £21/14/10 worked out as due for 13 years’ service –only the last 13 years of service was taken into account. SROWA Cons 527/1893/1520
The large number of early deaths in John Tracey’s family was attributed to consumption.
John was buried with military honours as a member of the Volunteers
David died in Onslow Hospital 8th August 1911 without a wife of next-og-kin. His personal estate was worth £23/8/0 Cons 5790/1911/191
