1841 Patrick Tansey 539 Private 73rd Foot location Montreal on a ship Canada
Discharge due to loss of sight in right eye and impaired vision in left due to ophthalmia
Mary(sic) Tansey age 35 received medical treatment about the Mermaid as did J Tansey age 5 and Tim Tansey age 2 who were both treated for rubeola aboard the Mermaid.
The Surgeon Superintendent listed the Tansey family as:
Patrick, Rose, John age 7 years and Timothy age 4 years.
1st September 1851 – in Return for Pensioner’s village North Fremantle, 1 man 1 woman and 3 children all Roman Catholic
1855 Patrick and Rose Tansey and Michael and Bridget Carrol signed a document undertaking not to fight under pain of banishment from Village. ‘We the undersigned Michael CARROLL and Patrick TANSEY fully understand that if our wives are again drunk they will be sent out of the military Village of North Fremantle for good.’
23rd September 1856 Lt Col Bruce in a letter to the Governor said that although Tansey had been in occupation of P15 at North Fremantle from September 1851 until his conduct and that of his wife improved all the other pensioners had precedence for having their cottage built. He further reports of the continued acts of drunkenness of this couple and the neglect of their children.
3rd March 1858 Lt Col Bruce recommended that Patrick Tansey be dismissed from the Force for being drunk on guard. He also requests that he refund the passage money for the family to come to the Colony. Approved.

Another two children were bap with the parents Patrick TANSEY/TANZEY and Rose QUIN (sic)
John TANSEY bap 18th July 1827 at Wexford Ireland
Patrick TANZEY (sic) bap 13th October 1828 at Charleville Limerick Ireland
Whether these were children of Pensioner TANSEY yet to be confirmed.
