DOHERTY Ann Dorothy (see further information below)
B Donegal Ireland     –     James wife Ann Doherty is the name on the England & Wales birth certificate for son James and in the WA birth register index for her children Jane Ann, Catherine and John; Anna Dogherty is the name listed in the baptismal records for Jane Ann, Catherine and John, though the register is in Latin. Ann Dorethy is the name in the death register index record for son James’ death, which may have been a transcription error. Ann Stone is the name in the death registration index and cemetery record. Anne Stone is the name in the Probate record. In the probate records there is a note from the lawyer certifying that the Ann Stone in the Death certificate was the same Anne Stone who had written the will. The birth certificate for son James also spells her former married name as Odonnel. Year of birth, 1824, estimated from age at death. A birth record has not been identified. From her death certificate she was born and married in Donegal so it is assumed she was born in or near Buncrana where son Patrick was born. Ann O’Donnell, widow, maiden name Doherty married James Stone. The first marriage record and husband has not been identified and it is not known how James and Ann met. Son Patrick was born in Buncrana, Donegal, in March 1854 so it is assumed they married before then.
