Henry Portlock was one of the pensioners that Captain Foss misappropriated funds to the value of £4/6/10
In 1857 ten of the William Hammond’s pensioner guards claimed good conduct pay for 27 days service, one of whom was Private Henry Portlock.
1871 (Census) Henry Portlock age 47, a widower, is living at 47 Mill Street Kidderminster Worcestershire with daughter Sarah Ann age seven born Kidderminster and three lodgers
Henry’s place of birth is given as Wribbenhall
Although Sarah Ann is listed as his daughter there is no marriage for Henry Portlock and someone called Randall her mother’s maiden name, however Louisa Portlock died the 3rd Qtr 1867 age 26 at Kidderminster Worcester England.
Sarah Ann Randell was baptised 2nd April 1864 at Kidderminster, Worcestershire, her mother was Louise Randall, no father recorded. Her birth is registered as Sarah Ann Portlock, mother Randall.
1881 (Census) Henry is living at a Lodging House in Parish of St Anne’s Bewdley Worcester England: no other family members mentioned: occupation shown as retired gardener born Wribbenhall.
1st October 1883 admitted to In-pension, Royal Hospital, Chelsea England it said he had no wife or family
