Further Information | British Army Worldwide Index 1841 John McNamara 1645 Private 66th Foot location Gosport 1851 As above location Barbados West Indies 1861 As above location Colchester 1861 Census RG 09/1097/162/21 St Botolph Colchester Essex Discharge at own request after 21 years service. 1889 John McNAMARA charged with assaulting his wife with a wooden lath (sic) and other injuries sentenced to 2 months imprisonment Thomas McNamara was working at Robb’s Jetty installing telegraph poles when he suffered a fall causing him to be severely injured. At the time of the accident 1903 he was the sole support for his aged mother and invalid sister. When the barracks was taken over around 1903 for the use of the Public Service Bridget McNamara, who had been living at the barracks journeyed to Victoria to live with her daughter Catherine Fletcher. She appears to have died in 1917 age 78 years. Her death registration gives her father’s name as Michael Burke (sic) and mother Catherine Sullivan. She died at Forrest, Victoria |
