Apparently Patrick visited England and when he was unable to locate her employed Edward Hayes Lawrence to search for her with a view of sending her to WA as an immigrant. He too was unsuccessful but shortly after Patrick’s death a letter was sent to him from Mary. Arthur Patten wrote to the address but the letter was returned from the Dead Letter Office see West Australian 19 Jan 1875 Nominated immigrants not found McGuinness Mary, Egg St, Everton, Liverpool: P. McGuinness, Greenough; Mr Jones, Shore St, Liverpool, (no such street). At the time of his death Patrick Meginess was in debt to the late Daniel Henry Scott for £119/6/8 (his heirs William Robert Fauntleroy, Caroline Scott and Mary Anne Gale). Patrick Meginess died intestate and Mary Anne Gale applied for and was duly granted the Letters of Administration. She valued his Personal property at £106/0/0 and the farm at Greenough at £100. |
