Further Information | British army Worldwide Index 1861 Edward James 7 Sergeant 21st hussars location Mutta East Indies Discharge due to inguinal hernia left side and impaired vision. 1871 Census Plaiston Grove London Essex Edward James age 40 a pensioner of the 21st hussars is living with his wife Emily age 28 born Cawnpore India and his family. Emily his 11 year old daughter born 1860 Chunar India is actually his step daughter Emily Dowling and George (Dowling) age 9 born Kussowlie 1862 is also a step child. Albert age 7, Florence age 5 and Edith age 3 were all born Umballa India and Octavius age 1 was born Bombay. George seems to disappear from this time but Emily Dowling came to Australia with the family. 18th April 1874 Edward Kellington and SM Edward James gave evidence in the case of James Toohill v HM Downing regarding the payment of wages for work done on the Naval Brigade during the voyag |
