Discharge due to contraction of right hand and being blown up by a mine at the battle of Sobraon, severely and extensively burnt over neck and chest, right arm and was also wounded by musket ball at the battle of Moodkee on upper and outer right leg [No wonder he did not look like he did at attestation]

In the 1841 Census HO 107/1086/8 Charles is living with his family at Duke Street, St Thomas the Martyr, Southwark prior to enlisting in the army. His father Thomas is also a milkman.

In the 1851 Census HO 107/1494/604/81 Charles a single man is a patient at the University Hospital Gower Street St. Pancras Marylebone London his occupation is given as porter at railway station

CV Fordham age 1 year was treated for rubella on the Sea Park, he is not found on marriages or death registrations in Australia

On 7th October 1865 Charles nominated his brother James age 30. His wife Eveline age 28 and their children Herbert age 9, Frederick age 7, Eveline age 4 and Jane age 1 as immigrants. At the time they were living at Banbury Road Oxford. James went on to have a very successful career in Western Australia. Charles gave his occupation as ‘tanner’ and he was living at Preston Point.
27th July 1866 Robbery reported at 7pm by CHAS FORDHAM, pensioner living at Preston Point that some person or persons entered his house at about 4pm and stole 4 lbs butter, and 1lb of pork, he suspects 4 prisoners he saw passing by. Enquiries to be made. Prisoners charged July 31 sentenced to 14 days.
