| Further Information | John’s surname was recorded by the military as Doonacan in his WO 97 record, the WO22 & 23’s records have Dronacan, Scotland favour Dunagan with a few variations and in Western Australia Donegan became the accepted spelling. In Margaret Donegan’s obituary it was stated that she had eleven children only seven of the names have been found. It also said her daughter Jane age was living in England. This family have not been found in the 1851 census despite the address being 15 Couper Street, North Leith Midlothian Scotland at the birth of son Thomas on 15th February 1851. Daughter Jane and John Cooper are in the 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901 census living at St. James Colchester Essex but do not appear in the 1911 census and do not appear to have died in Colchester. |
