Further Information | British Army, Worldwide Index 1841 Location Antigua Discharge: Due to abscesses rending him unfit for service In the 1851 Census George Cooper age 33 an agricultural labourer and Chelsea pensioner and his wife Margaret age 29 born Dublin Ireland are living with his parents Matthew age 64 born Cropwell Butler and mother Elizabeth Cooper age 63 born East Bridgford at the hamlet of Cropwell Butler at Tythby cum Cropwell Nottinghamshire England.Father/Mother place of birth reversed on 1851 and 1861 English Census21st August 1860 Pensioner Sergeant G. Cooper Fremantle applied to have Frances McCarthy / McGarthy, his niece living at High Street Killarney County Kerry, Ireland to be sent out as a Government immigrant.27 May 1869 George also signed a petition to the Governor along with many other worthies re the harbour at Fremantle and a railway. Signed George Cooper, Farmer, Fremantle William Agnew McCaw married two of the Cooper girls firstly Eliza in 1874 and after her death in 1880 he married Jane 1881. On 26 July 1922 a John Cooper of Calgary, Alberta, Canada wrote to the Registrar asking for information regarding his great uncle George Cooper as he believed he and his siblings may be the lawful heirs of his estate. The Registrar wrote back and said a George Cooper died in 2 November 1874 leaving a wife Margaret Jeffcott Cooper and an estate valued at not more than fifty pounds. He also included a list of the children of George Cooper. He suggested he should make inquiries in the other states. |
