    • Sarah age 15 born in County
    • Mary age 14 born in County
    • Adelaide age 11 born in County
    • Daniel age 5 Not born in County

    • William age 12 an errand boy born Essex Stratford
    • Edward age 10 a scholar at home also born Stratford Essex
    • James age 7 scholar born Stratford Essex

William Congdon was the last man chosen for the Sea Park Guard as they were one man short. November 23rd he was directed to present himself to captain McNair at Tilbury Fort.
Sarah Ann Congdon was appointed 10th July 1858 at a salary of £60 per annum as a Female Warder Lunatic Asylum; however, after a series of assaults by the inmates her services were dispensed with on 1st December 1858. (Barker page 39)
Son Daniel Keen Congdon was also employed by the Convict establishment as assistant warder 28th December 1856 until he was dismissed on 27th July 1859. (Barker page 39)
Daniel was later elected Mayor of both North Fremantle and Fremantle.
When William died in 1865 his death notice said “ four sons to bewail the loss of a kind father” which looks as if the three older daughters remained in England.
James and Edward Congdon left Western Australia as passengers on the Nile arriving Adelaide on 12th April 1865.
Edward may have married Sophia Jury on 30th September 1867 at St. John’s Church Adelaide (father William)
William Congdon was admitted three times to the (Royal) Adelaide Hospital in 1869. Each entry said he was age 26 a single man, Protestant, living at Adelaide, occupation barman, and he had been born Stratford, England, he had been five years in the Colony and the ship of arrival was the Sea Park.
There are many death and funeral notices for Daniel Keen Congdon but one of the most informative articles about the man’s career is in the Advertiser Tuesday 23 December 1930 page 2 ‘Old time Memories’
