From his WO 23 entry Thomas Clarke returned to England in 1869 and he appears in the 1871 Census as living at 51 New Town Road, the Priory of St. Andrew’s Northampton.
Thomas, age 45, is working as a Journeyman tailor and was born Daventry, Northampton.
His wife is now Norah age 28 working as a shoe fitter and was born in Ireland
By the 1881 Census Thomas and Norah are living at 80 Brier Lane St. Giles Northampton. Thomas‘s occupation is given as tailor, the other information is as in the 1871 Census.
In the 1891 Census Nora (sic) Clarke is a widow and living at 80 Wellingborough road St. Giles, Northampton as a boarder in the home of George M Hickman. She is still working as a shoe fitter and was born Cork Ireland.
In the 1901 and 1911 Census Norah is a servant in the home of former nurse Rebecca Dodd.
