19 March 1868 Robbery reported at station at 12 noon by Mr BUTCHARD, farmer of Fremantle his house had been entered by some parties during his absence this morning and 1 silver watch, 1 pr black cloth trousers, 1 black cloth vest and several sheets stolen there from. 3 T of L men charged, remanded to 21 inst.

Much of the information in sons David’s account of the early life of John was inaccurate and it is highly improbable he was born in 1792 as he would have been too old to be recruited into the army in 1825.
