Further InformationHenry’s surname was spelt Boll while in the military but seems to have become Ball in Australia.
When first medically examined William Boll was reported as ineligible for service in the 8th regiment due to deformity and bodily weakness, however when re-examined at Manchester the Medical board found he was fit for service although he had one shoulder higher than the other which gave him “ …a very awkward and deformed appearance…”
