On 31 July 1883 Job Bailey made his will naming his wife Sarah Ann Bailey as sole executor. He divided his property into 3 distinct parcels of land. He left his place of residence in Pool Street York together with his personal property to his wife for her life time to live in rent free. After her death it is to pass to his son George. The adjacent cottage to his son Job Bailey. The remainder of the property is to be equally divided between his daughters Sarah Barnes, Eliza Elizabeth Hicks, Susannah Gentle, Ruth Rebinar (sic) Bailey and Emily Reynolds.
He later added a codicil to his will with the proviso that his son Job could not sell or mortgage the cottage in Pool Street within 20 years after his death. He also appointed his son George Bailey as joint executor with his mother.
Further InformationAt the time of his marriage Job was serving on the ship Vindicative which was at Portsmouth having a refit before being sent to the West Indies and North America.
