| Further Information | British Army Worldwide Index 1841 Patrick Bannon 953 Private 50th foot location at sea Calcutta Discharge due to severe gunshot wound to the upper part of the right thigh received at “Punniar” 29th December 1843 and for which he was under treatment until sent home from Calcutta at the end of 1844-lame unable to march. Patrick Bannon was treated for an intermitted fever from 17th July to 22nd July 1851 aboard the ‘Pyrenees’. On the passenger list of the ship to Adelaide (Robert Clive) there were 4 children we have only found 3 born before 1857. 16th January 1878 The Inquirer (WA) reported the murder of Patrick Bannon of the 50th regiment, an item they copied from several South Australian newspapers however the Port Augusta Dispatch (Saturday 8th December 1877 page 1) reported it was a case of mistaken identity and Sergeant Patrick Bannon of the Queens regiment was alive and well. Patrick Bannon was admitted to the (Royal) Adelaide Hospital 22nd July 1878 age 65. At the time he was a widower religion RC residing at Port Augusta and his occupation is given as a shepherd born Ireland and had been 21 years in the Colony arriving of the Robert Clive. The date of death for his wife is inconsistent with his marital state on this record perhaps he remarried His son Thomas was also admitted to the hospital on 28th December 1894 age 39 religion RC.
