| Further Information | Discharge due to an injury to the four middle fingers of the left hand in the trenches on 16th July. British Army Worldwide Index 1851 Michael Carty 2097 Private 90th Foot location Manchester, Bullevant and Cork The surgeon Superintendent of the Merchantman rated the conduct of Kate Ann Carty as ‘very bad’ although the children Mary, Anne and Thomas was ‘very good’ as was that of private Michael Carty.8th January 1876 Michael Carty charged with being drunk on parade of the Enrolled Force and sentenced to 56 days imprisonment, half pension suspended and half paid to wife and family. On 3rd April 1877 Michael Carthy (sic) a pensioner was found guilty of wounding David Marchant with a bayonet. He was sentenced to prison for 1 calendar month, half his pension suspended and half paid to his wife. In October 1884 Michael Carty was imprisoned for 2 months with hard labour for stealing two carpet bags the property of his son-in-law Lewis (sic) Peter. In March 1891 Lewis Hasluck wrote to the inquirer regarding Caroline McCarty(sic) living in the ruins of an old stable at “Banana Alley” St Georges Terrace. He said she was the widow of Michael McCarty late of the 90th regiment and the daughter of Denis Caverner of the 87th regiment and was in need of assistance. Mary Jane PETER (daughter) was buried at East Perth Cemetery with 5 of her 8 children who all died before their 2nd birthdays |
