In the 1861 Census John McCall, age 39, single, a pensioner of the Royal Horse Artillery, is living with his parents William and Jessie McCall at Ayr Street, Glencairn, Dumfriesshire, Scotland [LDS Film 103820] Also living at the same address is his sister Mary, 29 and his aunt Mary Smith age 65. All were born in Dumfriesshire Scotland and his father is a master blacksmith. James Hiddleston , age 14, grandson of William and Jessie is an apprentice blacksmith.
