Discharge due to stricture of the urethra and chronic rheumatism
Comment on WO23/53 states “Turkey” which appears to indicate he was involved in the Turkish Contingent which was raised from discharged officers and soldiers (volunteers) in an effort to assist the regular army during the Crimean War.
The 1851 Census has him living with his wife Mary at 6 Plumstead Place Greenwich. Mary was aged 61 years and born in Suffolk – no children on census
