14th November 1883 appointed member of Enrolled Pensioner Guard. On his transfer of pension application dated 29th January 1871 some of the information is different from what we have recorded. He said he was married to Bridget Kean on 5th December 1862 at Dublin and his parents were Thomas and Margaret. He had four children under the age of 14. He applied for the transfer to Melbourne because he wished to reside there

When the list of possible candidates for the Enrolled Guard was drawn up on 21st August 1880 Thomas McGloughlin was consider ‘unfit’, however, on 14th November 1883 he was appointed to the guard where he served until his death at the Barracks in 1884.
On 12th August 1881 Mrs Loughlin on behalf of her husband Thomas McLoughlin late 29th regt @ 1/5 ½ applied for a room that was vacant at the Fremantle no 2 barracks. As she had a family of 5 young children her husband who was a tailor need a place to work for which the Barracks room would be suitable. She was allocated one room.
