Further Information | British Army Worldwide Index 1841 Bernard McGarvie 761 28th Foot Location Sydney NSW 1851 As above Location Manchester England Line Break In the 1851 Census HO 107/2224 Bernard McGarvie, a widower, is a soldier of the 28th regiment at the Salford Barracks Manchester also listed is Thomas B McGarvie age 15 also a soldier at the barracks who was born at sea who is presumably his son Daughter Agnes aged 1 year 6 months received medical treatment for rubella on board the Sea Park In 1857 Bernard McGarvey was charged with assault on Hugh Doran, fined £2 or imprisonment for 1 calendar month. He pointed a 4 barrel revolver at him. Thomas was also a soldier of the 28th regiment. He served from 1849 to 1864 when he was discharged suffering from Phthisis with a pension of 6d per day. He served for 2 years 61 days in Malta, Turkey and Crimea earning himself a Crimean Medal with 3 clasps and a Turkish Crimea medal, he also served for 4 years 318 days in India.
