Further InformationBritish Army Worldwide Index 1851 Daniel Sullivan 2164 Private 82nd foot location Portsmouth
In the 1851 civil census Daniel is an unmarried man with his regiment at Portsea island Portsmouth.
Discharge due to syphilis and lung disease. This possibly explains the still births and deaths soon after birth
1856 scheduled to be on the convict ship Runnymede when its Corporal William Nevin shot and killed its Sergeant Ben Robinson and was “held back” as a witness for the inquest and trial.
There is extensive correspondence from Western Australia, sent to the Home Office critical of Daniel Sullivan’s inclusion in the Enrolled Pensioner Guard scheme given his poor state of health prior to his departure to WA also the fact that his temporary pension ceased before his arrival in WA.
