Further Information | Discharge due to injury of the testicle. 1851 Census Golden Fleece Court St. Bololph, Aldgate Middlesex, England Robert McLaughlin age 40 an East India pensioner born East Indies, British Subject is living with his wife Susannah, 39, dressmaker, born Middlesex and her 2 children Edwin Grimwood age 13 and Alfred Grimwood, age 11, , both born Whitechapel, Middlesex, London, relationship to the head of the family was ‘son-in-law.’ The Surgeon Superintendent recorded Robert and Susan McLaughlin were accompanied by the children Amelia age 16, Edwin age 14 and Alfred age 12 on the voyage to Western Australia Susannah reverted to her name Grimwood when she and her two sons Alfred and Edwin left Fremantle 15th September 1854 on the ship Fergus to journey to Melbourne. Susannah Grimmood (sic) married her 3rd husband James Ethersey at Melbourne 1859. Amelia’s husband John Skeldon had been a convict on the Minden, he appears to have returned to England while Amelia went to Victoria with her family. Amelia died as the result of her clothes catching fire; her death was also registered as Grimwood. |
