| Further Information | British Army Worldwide Index 1841 James Adlam 981 Private 8th Foot location Halifax Nova Scotia 1851 As Above location Deesa (Camp) India Discharge due to ‘severe hepatic derangement and general debility’ According to the baptism of his son James in 1850 James was a musician in the band of the 8th regiment Adlam House (built by James Adlam c1868) is in the grounds of Corringle, a heritage listed estate located at Greenough Western Australia “In 1868, Corporal James Adlam was granted Greenough Lots G13 and G14, consisting of 33 acres, in consideration of his military services and built his home ‘Adlam Cottage’.12 Adlam was stationed at Greenough in charge of the Enrolled Pensioner Guard, who formed a large proportion of the early settlers at Greenough. He and his wife Caroline (nee. Richards) had arrived in the Swan River Colony in 1858.
