| Further Information | British Army Worldwide Index 1841 Location Kamptee 1851 Location Newry Ireland Discharge due to varicose veins Records show still living in New Zealand 1880 where his pension was paid at Onehunga. He is recorded on the Electoral Roll as living at Freehold Lot 3, Section 47 which included a house and 1 acre of land at Onehunga from 1861 to 1878. The name of his son Garrett Barry was not an uncommon name in New Zealand and at least three born 1843/4 died in 1882, 1910 and 1930, there is no indication any of them was the son of John Barry, Chelsea pensioner. |
