Further Information | While serving on the Powerful Thomas’s wife is recorded as Mary and the date of his marriage, also his father’s name and occupation. Discharge due to Phthisis and palpitations contracted in the service. Invalided to Haslar hospital 21st February 1852 discharge per Admiralty order dated 25th February 1852. In the 1851 Census Thomas age 36, born at Wardour Wiltshire was on furlough from the Royal Marines. He was living at Fovant, Wilton, Wiltshire with his wife Mary age 33, a dressmaker, born Tisbury Wiltshire as was his step-daughter Christianna age 7. We do not know if Christianna accompanied Thomas to Western Australia as there is no further mention of her in Australia. Thomas died of consumption. |
