Discharge due to chronic rheumatism and general debilityMrs Hill age 25 was treated for fever during the voyage of the Pyrenees and Priscilla Hill age 11 months was treated for bronchitis. Land Allotment granted to NEARNEY Margaret Ann widow of pensioner HILL William – Albany Sub Lot P13 states 3 acres purchased at upset price 18th September 1871 at £1/10/0 per acre.Family History research by Colin Fallows. Mary Jane Moore’s marriage certificate to William Fallows states her father’s name is shown as “—– Moor” and his occupation – “soldier”. However in the marriage register information at St John’s church someone has added: “The name of Mary Jane Moor’s father was John Broughton(?) Moor, sergeant in 97th Regiment. This turns out to be John Drought Moore 1819-1888. The birth register for Thomas Edward Fallows (4th child of William and Mary Jane), the signature of informant is Priscilla Hill and a note added (presumably by the registrar) says “Aunt to the child”. Priscilla was also a signatory to William’s and Mary Jane’s wedding. A number of documents are available which show that the members of the Hill family were loved and esteemed by the Fallows children and vice versa. Regardless of what the explanation is, It would seem that Mary Jane was taken into care by the Hills at a young age and that she was with William and Margaret Hill on the journey of the Pyrenees.
