Discharge due to “…activity and efficiency are too much impaired to render him a useful or efficient soldier”, chronic rheumatism December 24th 1852 son Patrick age 3 months was treated for porrigo on board the Pyrenees 17th January 1853 son William Butler was treated for ophthalmia on board Pyrenees and for diarrhoea on February 14th . Ophthalmia reappeared on April 5th and was successfully treated. 25th March 1853 William Butler age 48 was treated for catarrh. William Henry aged 9 years likely arrived on Pyrenees 1853 with family, is listed on ‘Swallow’ in 1857. Possibly is William listed age 2 in Surgeon’s sick list.Mary A Butler was admitted to the (Royal) Adelaide hospital on 26th August 1890 age 69, a married woman, Roman Catholic residing at port Adelaide. She was born East Indies and had resided in the Colony for 33 years having arrived on the Pioneer (a common mistake for Pyrenees) Mary Anne Butler’s father Daniel Polton was a Sergeant and Drum Major with the 44th regiment and 69th regiment and a veteran of Waterloo and the Burmese War. Her first husband George Brimsley was a private of the 44th regiment and her second husband Thomas Lewis was a lance corporal also with the 44th regiment. |
