Further Information | British Army Worldwide Index 1851 Joseph McGee 2886 Private 1st Batt Rifle brigade location Dover Discharge due to gunshot wound to his left hand received at the battle of Inkerman 5th November 1854. Joseph was reprimanded during the voyage of the Clara for not cleaning his rifle, fighting in Barracks and using bad language all punishable by having his grog allowance stopped for periods of time. Joseph death was not registered the information came from the Police files but it is also written on the WO22/227 entry for 1876-1880 and the newspapers of the day recorded the details of the Inquest. There are sundry newspaper articles regarding Joseph and Ellen McGee in Wallaroo and she is mentioned as having a daughter |
