| Further Information | The Surgeon Superintendent list no children arriving with William and Mary Ann Gilmore on the Mermaid 19th January 1853 – Witness at Military Court 9th June 1855 – Return of Pensioners in the North Fremantle Pensioner Village living with his wife and 1 child, Protestants After the death of her husband in 1856 Mrs Gilmore was considered incapable of conducting her own affairs and to provide for herself and in all probability it was felt would have to be maintained as a lunatic. The improvements on the allotment were valued at £15, she was entitled to another £15 for relinquishing the allotment and her late husband had a credit of pension of £4/12/- giving her a balance of £34/12/- plus the value of a few pieces of furniture. 14th December 1871 The resident magistrate Fremantle requested that Mary Gilmore be admitted to the Colonial Hospital Perth. She had for the past 9 months been living with her married daughter but now the son-in-law had turned her out. He further asked if he could be made to maintain her but the Attorney General said legally he did not have to. She was admitted to the Colonial hospital. |
