Further Information | British Army Worldwide Index 1841 William Sutton 1308 Private 24th Foot location Kingston Canada 1851 William Sutton 4308(sic) Private location Wizerabad Served in the army of the Punjaub in 1848/49. Present in action at Sadoolapore 3rd December 1848, Chillianwallah 13th January and Goojerat 21st December 1849. Discharge due to “long service in a tropical climate suffers also from chronic rheumatism and his constitution has been much impaired from … intermitted fever”. 1861 Census William Sutton age 43 is living at Canterbury Street Stoke Damerel he said he was a clerk engineer born Soho London. His wife Mary age 40 said she was born Devonport Devon. There are no children with the couple. |
