Further Information | Discharge due to a cough and difficulty breathing (Asthma) and alleged defective sight of right eye 1841 Census James Watson, age 30, born Scotland, is living in No 67 Soldiers cottages Charlton Lewisham London and Kent with his wife Augusta age 22, not born in County and infant son James who was 1 month of age and born in County. In the 1851 Census James, age 40 born Glasgow is working as a hosier, with his wife Sarah age 31, and children James age 9 born England, Julia age 3 and Sarah age 2 both born Edinburgh. The address is 14 Raeburn Place St. Cuthbert’s Midlothian. Left Colony without permission Cost of passage of £60 was repaid from his pension between 31st October 1852 and 20th June 1858 From his WO22s it appears he left WA to Melbourne briefly (no pension paid) then went to Tasmania and was paid there was paid in Tasmania until 30 June 1858 then returned to Melbourne where he was paid September 1858 to April 1870 when he was struck off (NAA Roll B 2712 entry 390) Old Ballarat Cemetery commemorates the deaths of James and Sarah Augusta as well as son James and his wife Maria and their son James. Both Julia Sayle and Sarah Evans were also buried at the cemetery. |
