Further Information | Received a gratuity of £5 on discharge 1851 Census HO 107/1588/448/25 David McMullen is located at the Royal Artillery Barracks Woolwich Kent he is age 31, single, a gunner with the Royal Artillery and was born in Belfast Antrim. During the Voyage of the Vimeira the Surgeon Superintendent reported that on November 15th 1865 while Corporal Quin was cleaning a revolver one chamber exploded with the bullet passing through both legs of warder Meagher’s Trowsers (sic) penetrating Guard McMullen’s jacket. It was diverted by the catch underplate then entered about 1 inch above the …and finally lodged close to that part of the liver where the great bowel enters. Cut down and extracted the ball. 9th October 1874 David McMullen, RA, Coast Brigade, requests payment of £15 as his cottage on Perth Lot 125 has reached the required stage. 8th October 1882 David McMullen wrote his will leaving all his estate and effects both real and personal to his wife Jane. In the event of her remarrying the will became void. He did not leave instructions as to what was to happen in that case and in fact she did remarry |
